Dr. J. Zachary Porterfield is Director of the HIV Clinical Pathogenesis and Trials Unit for the Institute for Translational Virology and Innovation, an Associate Professor of Infectious Disease & International Medicine, as well as an Assistant Dean and Director of the University of South Florida (USF) Morsani College of Medicine - Moffitt Cancer Center MD/PhD Program. Dr. Porterfield completed his MD/PhD at the University of Oklahoma, followed by an infectious disease fellowship at Yale University and an NIH Fogarty Global Health Fellowship in South Africa. As a virologist, immunologist, and clinician, his NIH-funded research focuses heavily on viral mitigation strategies for threats like HIV and HPV while his long-term global initiatives include capacity-building partnerships that connect researchers to communities and patients to research opportunities that improve healthcare delivery.
