Dr. Pritha Sharma, MD, MPH is Director of the Medical Unit and an Attending Physician in the Department of Internal Medicine at Yale New Haven Health. Board-certified in Internal Medicine, she combines clinical expertise with advanced training in public health and epidemiology. Dr. Sharma earned her MD and MPH in Epidemiology from St. George's University, completed her Internal Medicine Residency at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, and pursued Fellowship in Patient Safety through the University at Buffalo at Mt. Sinai, NY. Throughout her career, Dr. Sharma has held clinical, research, and leadership roles focused on healthcare quality improvement, patient safety, and public health. Her research has explored indoor air quality, environmental surveillance, reflecting her commitment to innovative approaches in disease prevention. Her work highlights the growing role of environmental monitoring, including airborne surveillance, in strengthening early detection of infectious disease threats and supporting evidence-based public health decision-making and community preparedness.
