The GVN Robert C. Gallo Award for Scientific Excellence and Leadership

The GVN Robert C. Gallo Award for Scientific Excellence and Leadership recognizes scientists who have made outstanding contributions to virology and to the mission of the Global Virus Network. Honorees are nominated by their peers for publishing important scientific discoveries in fields such as basic and clinical research, pathogenesis, epidemiology, diagnostics, antivirals, and vaccine development.

Beyond research, awardees exemplify GVN’s mission through activities such as building the global network of Centers of Excellence and Affiliates, mentoring and training the next generation, contributing to scientific meetings and Action Committees, and advocating for science-based decision making.

The award is presented each year at the GVN Annual International Scientific Meeting, where the recipient is recognized before colleagues from around the world.
