The West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Diseases (WACCBIP) is a Centre of Excellence that was established by faculty from the Department of Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology and the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR); both of the University of Ghana, with support from staff of the University of Ghana Computing Services (UGCS). The goal of the Centre is to train the next generation of biomedical scientists through short-term, medium-term and long-term programs, and to foster world-class research excellence with national, regional and international partnerships, thereby improving diagnosis, prevention, and control of diseases in sub-Saharan Africa.
