Job Title: Administrative Assistant

Reports to: Operations Associate

Location: Baltimore, MD

Position Description: The Global Virus Network seeks an Administrative Assistant to coordinate office administrative duties, scheduling, and program support as needed. Working with the President, Vice President, other staff members, GVN Academic Centers of Excellence and GVN scientists, the GVN Administrative Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative and logistical support to the GVN team and its Centers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinate with staff in scheduling and managing meetings and events
  • Assist with meeting logistics, materials, and maintaining records
  • Provide administrative and project support to ensure workplace productivity
  • Organize travel by booking accommodations and reservations needs as required.
  • Update mailing lists
  • Update paperwork, maintain documents and word processing
  • Coordinate events as necessary
  • Perform general office clerk duties and errands.
  • Other assigned duties

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of experience providing administrative support in a professional office atmosphere
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple duties and tight deadlines
  • Ability to exercise good judgement with a proactive approach

GVN Academy Manager

Job Title: GVN Academy Manager

Reports to:  Vice President

Location: Baltimore, MD

Position Description: The Global Virus Network seeks a Manager to oversee and implement the GVN Academy’s projects. Working with the President, Vice President, other staff members, GVN Academic Centers of Excellence and GVN scientists, the GVN Academy Manager will be responsible for planning and overseeing projects to ensure that all projects are completed in a timely fashion and within budget, and to advance the mission of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Overseeing the development of the different projects’ missions and goals under the GVN Academy.
  • Matching mentees with appropriate mentors
  • Locating and negotiating the use of hosting sites for trainees
  • Recruiting, interviewing and selecting trainees in cooperation with GVN team members and scientists
  • Assisting in developing curriculum and securing speakers
  • Planning and organizing GVN Alumni networking events
  • Managing trainees’ on boarding process
  • Serving as the liaison between GVN, trainees, and hosting institutions.
  • Supervising and coordinating day to day operations of the assigned scientific projects and programs under GVN Academy.
  • Developing and implementing educational, training, and scientific programs for GVN corporate partners.
  • Coordinating with cross-discipline team members to make sure that all parties are on track with project requirements, deadlines, and schedules.
  • Serving as an advisor for current and/or prospective trainees who express interest in the project and monitors the success rate.
  • Providing programmatic guidance through participation in staff meetings, task forces, and committee meetings.
  • Facilitating change requests to ensure that all parties are informed of the impacts on schedule and budget.
  • Preparing budget recommendations, submitting justifications for budget items, and monitoring and controlling program expenditures.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and interpreting a variety of applications, agreements, forms, records, business correspondence, and reports; making recommendations based on findings.
  • Responding to requests for information from GVN academic & corporate partners, applicants, and other related parties for project questions.
  • Conducting post-project evaluation and identifying successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Promoting the program philosophy, goals, and objectives.
  • Other assigned duties

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Biology, Health Sciences or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience providing program and administrative support, in a science related filed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
  • Proven ability to complete scientific projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
  • Experience and ability to work well under pressure as a team player
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and tight deadlines
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgement with a proactive approach

Business Development Manager

Job Title: Business Development Manager

Reports to:  Vice President

Location: Baltimore, MD

Position Description: The Global Virus Network (GVN) seeks a Business Development Manager to assist in overseeing business development activities and expanding partnerships for the organization.  Working with the President, Vice President, Program Director and other staff members, the Business Development Manager works to contact and develop relationships with partners and sponsors in creating grant programs,  identifying potential sources of donations and tracking the progress of sponsorships, and to coordinate the establishment of partnerships within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare and hospitality industries.

This position will have a revenue target that will be measured for success as part of an annual performance review.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Partnerships & Sponsorships:

  • Work with GVN’s President and Vice President, GVN Board members on outreach partnerships and collaborations.
  • Oversee the development of GVN Corporate Partnership Program (CPP).
  • Manage relationships with current, new and potential partners.
  • Network, solicit, and follow up with donors, sponsors and vendors.
  • Maintain current and potential partners database and records
  • Research government funding programs
  • Prepare and present detailed partnership proposals and agreements to prospective individuals.
  • Coordinate activities to assure the proper level of cultivation and follow-up is applied in a donor/partner centric manner.
  • Attend community events, meetings, or conferences to promote organizational goals or solicit donations or sponsorships.
  • Assist in contacting corporate representatives, government officials, or community leaders to increase awareness of organizational causes, activities, or needs.
  • Conduct research to identify the goals, net worth, history of charitable donations, or other data related to potential partnerships, potential investors, or general donor markets.
  • Write reports or prepare presentations to communicate fundraising program data.
  • Evaluate new global health initiatives and identify the potential business partners
  • Coordinate with GVN Global Health Task Force members to ensure meaningful ongoing support to the programs from business development standpoint.
  • Other assigned duties

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree is a must. Master’s degree in business, marketing or related field is a plus
  • 7+ years of experience in fundraising, sales, marketing, or related field.
  • Experience and ability to work well under pressure as a team player
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and tight deadlines
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgement with a proactive approach
  • Candidate with scientific background is a plus
